Move More outdoors in our beautiful island this winter!

Move More Jersey are encouraging islanders to get out and exercise in the great outdoors this winter, at a time when it’s more important than ever to stay physically fit.

With everyone adapting to living their lives in the ‘new normal’ with the presence of COVID-19 – it’s really important for people to look after their health as we head into winter.

By moving more, you will start to increase your physical health, which in turn will help to build up your immunity, to help you fight against common colds and viruses. Exercising over winter will help you win!

Cirsty de Gruchy, Head of Move More Jersey said, “There are so many benefits to being physically active, but sometimes it’s hard for people to find  the motivation to exercise during winter, when the temperature drops and the nights start drawing in.

Living on such a beautiful island, we’re lucky to have the opportunity to take part in many different outdoor activities including walking, running, cycling and sea swimming, in places with amazing natural beauty and stunning views – it makes outdoor exercising so much more enjoyable and it’s all so easy for us to access. We’re encouraging everyone to get outside this winter and do more of more the physical activity they enjoy, to keep themselves fit at a time when it’s more important than ever to look after your health.”

Getting outside in the fresh air, breathing in the salty sea air and our stunning coastal landscapes, or exploring Jersey’s leafy green lanes, brings with it many health benefits for both body and mind – it can help improve your mood and self-esteem.
