Move More Jersey Launch HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Ups for Islanders

Move More Jersey, an initiative by Jersey Sport, will be launching a series of HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Ups for Islanders over the next six months, in conjunction with British Cycling and HSBC Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

The first HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Up to be held in Jersey will be taking place at Les Quennevais cycle track, on Sunday 13 October 2019, from 10:00-12:00.

Sue Fox, CEO HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man said, “Cycling is the perfect way for islanders to enjoy time outside. Through the launch of Let’s Ride Pop-Up events we hope to inspire even more people to get on their bikes whatever their age or ability – something that is good for their health and wellbeing, as well as great for Jersey’s environment too.”

The free pop-up events are an ideal way for the whole family to enjoy cycling together, around a traffic-free route. The cycle track at Les Quennevais provides a safe and friendly space for cyclists of all abilities to ride at a pace that suits them, as many times as they wish.

Cirsty de Gruchy, Move More Jersey Manager said, “Jersey Sport, HSBC and British Cycling want to see families outside, enjoying time together on their bikes, in a safe and supportive environment, no matter what their ability. It’s all part of getting islanders to be more active and to enjoy the many benefits cycling has to offer.”

There will be lots of cycle related activity taking place at the HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Up on 13 October, including:

• Free Bike Marking by the States of Jersey Police, thanks to sponsorship from Jersey Sport
• Bikeability officers offering ‘Ready Set Ride’ cycling skills for young children just starting out on balance and small bikes
• Volunteers and bike shops ready to talk through all things cycling related
• Local ride leaders will be at hand to provide information about women-only Breeze rides

Following the Wheels for All Festival taking place at Les Quennevais on Saturday 12 October, Cycling Projects will also be attending the HSBC Let’s Ride Pop-Up, with a range of adapted bikes for those with a disability, or for those who would prefer to try cycling with a companion.
