Phil Austin

Chairman

Background: Phil spent all of his career in the finance industry, predominately in banking, in both London and Jersey, moving to the Island in 1993. He currently acts as a non-executive director on a number of boards including, locally, Jersey Electricity Plc. In previous years, he has also served as a Trustee of the Jersey Heritage Trust, as well as a Governor of both Highlands College and Victoria College.

Interests: Sport has always played a big part in Phil’s life, particularly football, and he has been President of the Jersey Football Association since 2012. In 2009, he accepted an invitation to chair the Bid Committee to try to bring the 2015 NatWest Island Games to Jersey and when the bid was won, he stayed on to chair the Organising Committee for the Games itself. His active involvement in sport nowadays is limited to golf and he is a member of La Moye Golf Club.

Phil is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. In January 2016, he was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.
