Catriona McAllister
Chief Executive Officer
Role within Jersey Sport: To lead the development and implementation of an innovative strategy for sport and active living in Jersey that will create an integrated system that inspires people to participate in sport and activity at all levels.
Previous employment before Jersey Sport: As CEO of Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, she developed the original concept and delivered a world-class facility that is used by international athletes, students and the community.
Catriona joined Heriot-Watt University as Deputy Director of Sport and Exercise in November 2007. She was promoted to Head of Sport and Exercise in 2011 and then to Chief Executive of Oriam in May 2015.
Employment history: Catriona’s background is in the strategic and operational management of sports facilities and in the development of sport. She is a committed professional who has a successful track record in developing and managing facilities, sports programmes and health intervention initiatives.
As CEO of Oriam, Catriona was responsible for leading the project from bid stage, through construction and the operation of Oriam which opened in August 2016. In leading the Edinburgh Bid to win the right to host Oriam, Catriona and her team fought off stiff competition from across the county to construct and operate this facility.
Catriona set out a clear vision for Oriam to ensure it was contributing to developing sport at all levels. Her leadership of Oriam has been described as exceptional by all involved in the Oriam partnerships, including the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon. Catriona was named in the top 10 of women of influence driving the agenda in Scottish Sport.
High level / sports related qualifications: Catriona graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BA in Sport in the Community before going on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management at Northumbria University. Catriona also holds a wide variety of leadership, coaching and project management qualifications.
Hobbies: Catriona lives and breathes sport and being active. She has played hockey, football and rugby to a high level. Whilst her best playing days are behind her, she is still extremely active and enjoys walking football, cycling and walking the dogs.
