The benefits of keeping active and moving more are endless, but sometimes it’s hard to find the motivation during winter, when it starts getting a bit colder and the nights start getting darker.

By moving more, you will start to increase your physical health, which in turn will help to build up your immunity, to help you fight against common colds and viruses.

Exercise and physical activity is not only good for your physical health – it’s good for your mental health too.

Getting outside in the fresh air, breathing in the salty sea air and our stunning coastal landscapes, or cycling through Jersey’s leafy green lanes, brings with it many health benefits for your body and mind – it can help improve your mood and self-esteem.

We’re lucky to live on such a beautiful island where there are so many opportunities to move more outdoors, either by walking, running, cycling or sea swimming.

If you’re lacking motivation, try starting a new activity with someone else and stick to a routine – it helps if it’s fun and you enjoy what you’re doing. Take it slow it start and gradually build up the amount of activity you do over time. It doesn’t matter what you wear, as long as it’s suitable and safe for the activity you’re taking part in, and suitable for the winter weather.

Sometimes finding the time to be more active can be difficult, but if you find an activity you enjoy and build it into your life as part of your routine, you’ll soon reap the rewards and you’ll be winning this winter!
